Day 4 was the day I tackled Stone Mountain. Although the trail is labeled "The Walk-Up Trail," it was a challenge for this retiree. To be fair, it was all walking, stepping up and deep breathing - no hand holds required. However, after piloting a desk for thirty years, it was plenty for me to handle. These are the photos that I took going up and down the trail:
After hiking Stone Mountain, I next went to the Grist Mill exhibit. It was found abandoned in a different part of Georgia, disassembled, brought to Stone Mountain Park and re-assembled. It is a beautiful feature in the park. Here are the photos:
My final stop was the Quarry Exhibit. Granite was taken from the mountain until 1978. The exhibit tells the story of that work.
Our time here at Stone Mountain is coming to an end. Tomorrow we pack up and prepare to move on. Next stop - Cloudland Canyon State Park in Georgia!
