After completing our loop of Georgia sites, we returned to the Savannah / Richmond Hill area so my wife could have a seond week visiting her family. This time we stayed at Savannah Oaks RV Resort which is on the Ogeechee River near Richmond Hill. The image above and thse below were taken from the boat launch area of the RV park:
My wife has had limited mobility for some time and I suddenly developed issues of my own (more on that later). We therefore could do little in the way of hiking, seeing the sights, etc. this time. We did take a narrated trolley tour of the historic section of Savannah with Old Town Trolley Tours of Savannah. The slow pace and detailed narrative make this tour well worth its price. Although we stayed on the trolley from the beginning to the end of its route, it is a hop-on hop-off arrangement with the ability to get on and off an unlimited number of times throughout the day. This allows tourists to get off at designated stops and walk around before catching another of the trolleys and resuming the tour.
The tours depart from the Savannah Visitors Center (specifically, the Martin Luther King Visitor Information Center) which is located inside a historic Central of Georgia Railway Passenger Station. The photo below is a large mural on one wall in the Center:
Here are several photos taken from inside the trolley during our tour of the historic Savannah area:
