Garner State Park, in the Texas Hill Country, is the most popular state park in Texas for overnight camping. The park includes 2.9 miles winding through 1,774 acres of scenic Hill Country terrain and offers swimming or floating on the river, 16 miles of scenic hiking trails, camping, nature study, picnicking, canoeing, fishing, miniature golf, geocache and bike riding. Amenities include a concession, camp store and visitor center. Overnight visitors can stay in screened shelters, cabins or campsites. There are 372 campsites ranging from primitive to full hook-up.
According to the Texas Parks & Wildlife Division: "Garner State Park is part of a unique sub-region known as the Balcones Canyonlands. Edwards limestone uplifted millions of years ago, creating steep canyon walls and some of the most spectacular views in the Texas Hill Country."
