Touring an antebellum plantation home

Today we traveled to New Iberia, Louisiana to tour the Shadows -On-The-Teche plantation home. It was built between 1831 and 1834 for sugar cane planter David Weeks and his wife Mary Conrad Weeks. It was one of several homes on the 2,000-plus acre sugar cane plantation. It is a 3,700 square foot building. The home is a National Trust Historic Site and is located at 317 East Main Street, New Iberia, Louisiana 70560.

Photographs inside the home are not allowed. Some interior photos can by found by searching Google for those images. I took the exterior photos included in this blog and in this website's gallery.
